Zuma San Diego, the globally acclaimed contemporary Japanese izakaya, has arrived inside The Guild Hotel, marking the brand’s first home on the West Coast. The roughly 12,000-square-foot space spans an indoor dining room, a wraparound bar, and a garden terrace with its own DJ booth, including a private nook set aside for smaller parties of up to twelve. Independently helmed, with its own sushi counter and robata grill, Zuma occupies its own footprint within the historic building.

The design leans into where it landed: stacked stone walls nod to the boulder-strewn coastline south of the city, and the color story pulls from local mineral tones and San Diego’s own sunset light. Guests pass through a tunnel-like entry before the room opens around a monolithic stone bar. Overhead, hand-carved timber screening, inspired in part by the lath roof at Balboa Park’s botanical building, filters light across the dining room and terrace.
Zuma is San Diego’s new destination for group dining, with semi-private options for larger parties and full restaurant buyouts available for up to 200 guests.
